Postdoc Position in Computational and Applied Mathematics, Temple University

Recommended Posts

We encourage applications for a postdoc position in "Computational and Applied Mathematics." This includes, Numerical Linear Algebra, Numerical PDEs, Computational Science, Mathematical Biology, Scientific Computing, and Computational Modeling. The best applications are those where there is a clear match with a mentor faculty member from the Department (www.math.temple.edu). Feel free to contact the appropriate faculty member if you have questions, or simply to explore common interests.

The official ad from mathjobs #10742 reads as follows:

The Department of Mathematics at Temple University seeks applications for two Postdoctoral Assistant Professors (non-tenure track). Preferred areas for the search are Algebra, Analysis, and Computational and Applied Mathematics, but strong candidates in other areas will be given consideration. The positions are intended for new or recent Ph.D.s with strong research potential and excellent teaching skills. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in mathematics by the time of appointment and will be each paired with a faculty mentor (or mentors) in their research areas. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension to a third year per mutual agreement. The teaching load is 2-1 in the first two years. Applications should be submitted through mathjobs.org and include the standard AMS Cover Sheet for Academic Employment, a cover letter naming at least one possible mentor, a CV, a research statement, a teaching statement, and four letters of recommendation, one of which should address the candidate's teaching qualifications.

Please direct all inquiries to mathematics@temple.edu

Screening of applications will begin on December 1st, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled. Temple University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty. We especially encourage applications from women, minority candidates and other underrepresented groups in the mathematical sciences. The Department of Mathematics at Temple University abides by the AMS postdoctoral offer response date guidelines.
