Men's and Women's Tennis Completes Incoming Class for 2018-19 Season

PHILADELPHIA - – Drexel Tennis completed its incoming class with the additions of Gustav Wogen, Djordje Janackovic, Juan Manuel Sanchez, Cristina Corte González and Katarina Majorova, head coach Mehdi Rhazali announced Friday. They will be joining early signee Tara Veluvolu to complete the 2018-19 recruiting class.
 
Djordje Janackovic, a native of Serbia, is ranked No. 2 on both the National Senior List and in the Serbian National Team Championship. In addition, he was named a top 10 player in the nation (U14, U16, U18) and was the best tennis junior in Europe, ranked at No. 250. He plans to study business during his career at Drexel.
 
Juan Manuel Sanchez comes to Drexel from Cali, Colombia where he is ranked No. 1 from U12 through U18 and reached a career-high ITF ranking of No. 302. He represented Colombia three times at the South American Championship and qualified for the World Cup in Czech Republic in 2014. In addition, Sanchez won the singles ITF G5 in Colombia in 2017 and was the singles runner up in both Honduras ITF G5 and Colombia ITF G4. Not only did Sanchez excel in singles play, but he also won three ITF doubles titles, including Peru ITF G5, Cali ITF G4 and Bogata ITF G5. He will be majoring in business and engineering.
 
Gustav Wogen comes to Drexel from Sweden where he attended Ehrensvardska Gymnasiet from 2015-2018. Wogen was a quarterfinalist on three occasions including Nationals U18 Doubles, Karlskrona Future 2017 Doubles and Nationals U16 Singles. In addition, he is ranked No. 229 among Sweden seniors and earned a fourth place finish in the U16 Regional Championship. He plans on studying Engineering during his career at Drexel. 
 
Cristina Corte González, a native of Asturias, has been named the Champion of Asturias on four different occasions. Gonzalez, who will be studying International Business, is ranked No. 1 in Asturias seniors and is in the top 100 in Spain seniors.
 
Katarina Majorova comes to Drexel from Slovakia, where she attended Albert Einstein Gymnasium. Majorova was named the 2016-17 South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year as well as All-South Atlantic Conference First Team (singles and doubles). In addition, she is ranked #12 in National Singles Division II ranking as of March 2018 and has been named the AstroTurf SAC Player of the Week on four occasions. Majorova will be majoring in business finance.
