The Department of History at Goldsmiths, University of London is seeking to appoint a 0.7fte Lecturer, for 3 years, to develop, convene and teach Level 5 & 6 undergraduate modules and a level 7 PG module on the History of the Balkans, to participate in the team-teaching of level-4 survey modules, to act as interim Administrative Director of the Centre for the Study of the Balkans (details to be discussed), and undertake pastoral and academically-related administrative duties. This is a replacement post for Professor Dejan Djokic, who has been awarded research fellowships from the British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust.

The successful applicant should ideally situate the Balkans in their work in a broader European/global context, with a comparativist and/or transnational angle. Their work should also ideally complement or add to the existing expertise in the department, in terms of regional specialisation and/or in terms of our existing strengths (e.g. social and cultural history, gender, sexualities, history of emotions, social history of the military, medical humanities).

While this is not a research post, since teaching at Goldsmiths is research-led, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of past and/or concrete plans for future relevant publication. You will be eligible for a modest contribution toward research expenses.

Starting salary: Grade 7, SP 33 (£39,504 incl. LWA pro rata)
