administrator
Serbian freshman Nikola Dzepina committed to Washington on Tuesday with a plan to enroll at the semester break and become eligible as early as December. Dzepina made his mark in the FIBA U19 World Cup where he averaged 16.4 points per game in just 27 minutes per game in seven games. In two games for Spain’s U22 league with Valencia, Dzepina averaged 13.5 points per-game in 17 minutes per-game. The freshman had his best game of the World Cup against the Dominican Republic where he poured in 26 points on 10-for-15 shooting. This comes as great news for head coach Danny Sprinkle and will provide much-needed depth in the frontcourt after the season-ending loss of junior forward Mady Traore and the three-month loss of senior forward Jacob Ognacevic. Some Washington fans may be weary after fellow foreign recruit, French forward Dominique Diomande, failed to suit up for a single game in the purple and gold before transferring to BYU at season’s end. If Dzepina is able to see court time, it will be a nice addition to a roster already primed to make some noise in its second season in the Big Ten. https://www.dailyuw.com/article/serbian-forward-nikola-dzepina-commits-to-washington-men-s-basketball-team-20251022
