Italy: Master in East European and Eurasian Studies

Admission Requirements

In order to apply for admission to the A.Y. 22/23 Mirees Master’s Degree, it is necessary:

1. To hold a Bachelor's (First cycle) Degree

1.a) to hold a Bachelor's (First cycle) Degree from an Italian university amongst those listed in the Call for Application or to have acquired a number of Credits in specific areas of study, or

1.b) to hold an equivalent Bachelor's (First cycle) Degree from a non-Italian University that grants access to a Second Cycle Degree in the issuing country

2. To have a minimum B2 Level knowledge of the English language (CEFR) to be certified as follows:

2.a) certificate: see the attached Common European Framework Reference - Language Certificates Equivalence Table of the Linguistic Center for a detailed list of admitted certificates issued no more than 3 years prior to the application deadline (in addition: TOEFL-paper-based min. 550 points; Trinity GESE 8; a B2 level certificate in English released by a University Language Centre) and upload it online, or

2.b) the above-mentioned B2 level certificates are not requested if the candidate falls within one of the following exemption categories: he/she is an English mother-tongue speaking or is he/she has obtained a Bachelor's (First cycle) Degree from an English-speaking university or entirely taught in English (certified), or

2.c) Candidates who do not hold any of the above nor they fall within any of the exemption categories have the opportunity to sit the OOPT - Oxford Online Placement Test*:

  • on May 25th 2022, at 10.00 a.m (CET), for the 1st intake (Sign up by May 23th 2022 at 23.59 (CET)
  • on September 5th 2022, at 10.00 a.m (CET), for the 2nd intake (Sign up from August the 3rd to September the 5th at 09:00 a.m. (CET)

*Candidates can sign up to the OOPT only if the admission fee is paid 

3. To comply with the criteria set for the assessment of a suitable personal preparation based on:

3.a) Academic background in the following areas of study: Law, Economics, History, Political and Social Sciences, Sociology, Political Geography, Language Studies, as well as knowledge in recent international political and economic events in the European and international contexts;

3.b) any previous studying abroad experiences, professional experiences, publications and post-graduate studies in the area of study and/or in the East Europe and Eurasia geographic area.

Please find the summary of the main DEADLINES below. Evaluation rankings, clearing procedures, matriculation dates will be detaild in the Call for Application. 

Attachments

The assessment is carried out on the basis of the documents uploaded on Studenti Online by the candidates and listed in the call for applications:

Completed Application Form

- Bachelor's (First cycle) Degree certificate and transcript of records or certificate of enrolment with exams passed for students not graduate yet *; 

B2 English language certificate (or certified exemption category, or OOPT)

- Any certificate attesting experiences abroad, language knowledge, professional experiences, internships, volunteering, publications and any other relevant experiences in the area of study and/or in the East Europe and Eurasia geographic area.

- copy of a valid ID document or passport;

- copy of permit of stay for Non-EU citizens, if already acquired.

* graduate (or graduating) candidates  at a University abroad: indicate the University Degree achieved/to be achieved. Please insert all the exams and credits passed during the previously indicated qualification. The application can be updated up to the selection deadline.

The participation in the selection procedure is subject to the payment of € 50.00 registration fee. The payment must be done through Studenti Online and the amount paid cannot be refunded under no circumstances.

  • EU candidates and non-EU candidates with equivalent status to EU candidates can participate in either the first or second intake: however, candidates applying for the first intake and getting a negative result will not be able to participate in the second one.
  • EU and non-EU candidates with equivalent status who were selected in the first intake but did not enrolwithin the deadline as well as eligible candidates on waiting list can apply again for the second intake according to the terms and conditions laid down in the call, without paying again the registration fee.
  • Non-EU candidates residing outside Italy can only apply for the first intake

Tuition Fee Amounts

Tuition fees are calculated based on the ISEE value with special subsidies in relation to the right to higher education. First year students with an ISEE of up to €23,000 benefit from full exemption. Above this limit, tuition fees are calculated progressively. 

Students who do not submit the ISEE value will be requested to pay the full amount.

Matriculation

After you have checked that all the admission requirements have been met, you can enrol on  Studenti Online:

  1. fill in the application for matriculation with the required information and attach a passport photo in digital format;
  2. pay the first instalment of your tuition fees;
  3. follow the instructions to complete the procedure which you will find on Studenti Online according to your profile.
