The Balkans in Europe Policy Advisory Group (BiEPAG) is currently accepting applications for Fellows for 2023. Fellowship takes place in Graz, Austria where BiEPAG provides research facilities for fellows, including a working place at the Centre for Southeast Studies at the University of Graz, access to the University library and full participation in the activities of the BiEPAG for three months (either between March-June 2023 or October 2023-January 2024). Fellows will receive four thousand euros gross for the duration of their stay. BiEPAG can unfortunately not assist in providing health insurance or assistance with logistics related to travel to and from Graz.

Visiting fellows are expected to contribute to BiEPAGs activities by assisting the Group’s coordinator, Florian Bieber, contribute a policy brief to the BiEPAGs policy brief series, and write a blog to the blog of the Group.

The BiEPAG is a group of policy analysts, scholars, and researchers, established as a joint initiative of the European Fund for the Balkans and the Centre for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz with the aim to promote the European integration of the Western Balkans and the consolidation of democratic, open countries in the region. It seeks to advance this goal through research, policy advice and advocacy. BiEPAG is composed of prominent policy researchers from the Western Balkans and all of Europe who have established themselves for their knowledge and understanding of the Western Balkans and the processes that shape the region.

Please submit a CV, a one page research plan for a policy brief and one letters of recommendation in English to Marko Kmezic (marko.kmezic@uni-graz.at) by 8 January 2023. We welcome applications from advanced doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers and policy analysts. Applicants from a variety of disciplines (including law, political science, or economics) will be considered. We strongly encourage researchers engaged in comparative work (both within the region and between regions and countries) to apply as well as researchers involved in cross-sectional ecologic studies.

You can find out more about BiEPAGs work at https://biepag.eu/. For informal inquiries contact Marko Kmezic (marko.kmezic@uni-graz.at) and Florian Bieber (florian.bieber@uni-graz.at).
