  1. Hi Elizabeth,

I am writing in order to ask you some questions about receiving scholarships for undergraduate studies in the States.

Namely, I have been accepted to American University in Washington DC. However, they are offering me only $15,000, and the cost is $42,137. So, do you know someone I could contact in order to receive the necessary amount via scholarship or some other form of financial assistance?

Thank you in advance. Hope to hearing from you soon.

    Best,

    Marko

  2. Hi Elizabeth,

I have a problem with George Washington University. Namely, I have applied there since it's a strong university, and when I contacted them they said that inernational students are considered for an academic scholarship that can range up to full tuition. However, yesterday one of the admission committe officers contaced me, saying that I am required to deliver them the financial certificate (I have sent it alreday, since they said I don't have to write the full amount) which confirmes that I have the necessary 52000$ for tuition! I emailed her explaining what they told me, and she replied that the maximum sum I can get is 15000$. What should I do?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best,

    Marko

  3. Hi Elizabeth,

I want to ask you a few question about the admissions interview. Namely, I am interested whether international applicants have an interview (I heard that most have a phone interview) and what types of question does the admission committe ask?

    Thanks. Best regards,

    Marko

  4. Thank you Elizabeth. All the information you have given is quite useful.

I am a senior at high school (in Novi Sad), so I am considering undergraduate studies in the US. To tell you the truth, I have already applied to some schools and I am considering FDU as a final option (if I don't get accepted). I have checked out their web site, and I think it is a good school to go to. I remember you once said that you majored in history, and I am interested in philosophy and history, so I value your opinion. :)

However, the only problem is financing college. I am planning on emailing them to see what are the possibilities of financing undergradute international students and then I will make my decision.

Nonetheless, thank you for the information.

  5. Hi Elizabeth,

I have been contacted by the Fairleigh Dickinson Univ. to apply to their school, thus I was wondering if you could tell smth about this University, for instance: is it a good school to go to? what is the campus life there (NJ)? can someone get a good education there and possibly transfer to another university afterwards?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Marko

  6. Dear Elizabeth,

I have registered for the SAT in October in Budapest. So, I just want to check something. The test starts at 8 am, unless otherwise stated. As far as I can see on my admission ticket, there is no time indicating when the test will start. Thus, this means that the test starts at 8 am?

    Thanks.

  7. Hi Elizabeth,

Thanks for such a detailed answer. My friend went to the States and that family told her about Berea. But, I was most worried whether they would talk about God and try to convert me.

Franky, I'm not a "party animal" and it wouldn't be a problem living there (but, as you say I can always go elsewhere to have a drink).

What's most important to me is the education that I would gain there, if accepted. I'll apply to other colleges as well, but that's another story.

If it's not too much of a problem, you could ask them about the campus life and what is the percent of students being accepted to some prestigious graduate programs, esp. Harvard.

I have to go study for the SAT. I'm taking it on October 14th, so I'm a bit scared.

    Thanks for all the information.

  8. Dear Elizabeth,

I am considering of applying to Berea College. I have found most of the information about this college on the internet, but a friend told me it is quite religiously affiliated. I was wondering do you know something about this?

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Marko

  9. Dear Elizabeth,

I have applied for the October SAT in Budapest. Will I get a confirmation of my registration or a mail from collegeboard stating that I have been asigned a seat at the test centre in Budapest?

Thank you in advance. hope to hearing from you soon.

    Best regards,

    Marko

  10. Elizabeth,

I want to ask yous something about some colleges.

I was wondering about applying to Gallaudet University and University of the District of Columbia, besides other colleges (I don't know if you remember, but I was at your Centre last Tuesday and I'm planing of applying to Harvard). What do you think about Gallaudet and UODC? I am planing on applying to two, three ivy league and some top schools, and a few less selective schools like the ones I just mentioned.

    Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Marko

  11. Dear Elizabeth,

No, I haven't attended a school in the states. I just wasn't sure whether I have to send the transcripts from my second and third year (and mid year school report from my senior year), or from the first, second and third year.

Yes, this answers my question. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Marko

  12. Dear Elizabeth,

I am writing in order to obtain some additional pieces of information regarding the SAT exam.

I would have come to the Centre to ask you in person, however I am not from Belgrade (I am from Novi Sad), so it is not easy for me to travel to Belgrade again, for I have been to your group counseling last Thursday.

My question is: I am considering of applying to Harvard (and other colleges as well that are not ivy-league) and Harvard requires three SAT Subject Tests. Therefore, I must take the SAT I in October. On the collegeboard?s web site stands that the SAT will be offered in Belgrade in November, December and during 2007. Hence, I have decided to go to Budapest and take the SAT I, since it is the most practical and available solution. What I want to know is does it have any effect on my scores and college application if I take the SAT I in Budapest and the SAT Subject Tests in Belgrade? Also, how will the colleges know not to throw away (or something else) my SAT scores if the collegeboard sends them after I have taken the tests (in October), if I haven?t started the application form? I think the most useful way of applying to college would be online. Would you recommend this way of applying to college?

Additionally, I have a question about TOEFL. As it is to my understanding, the TOEFL exam will be offered at your Centre. I am thinking about taking it in late August, for I believe I don?t need any kind of classes for the exam because I have taken the Cambridge Exam CPE this June, and I have an A in FCE.

I know I have asked you a bunch of questions and I would appreciate it if you could answer them all.

    Thank you in advance!

    Yours faithfully,

    Marko Konjovic
