  5. Međunarodni akademski centar je u ponedeljak, 20. avgusta, ugostio predstavnike d?ez benda Delaware State univerziteta i profesore. Representatives of the combo jazz band of the Delaware State University and their professors were our guests on Monday, August 20. Students participated at the Nishville International Jazz Festival and took some time sightseeing Belgrade. Harold Smith III and Terrance Stigall, students of the DSU, shared their experiences with our members and future graduate students in the US. Smith and Stigall managed to keep their passion for music and studies together, despite all the odds. Students were accompanied by Bradley Skelcher, dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Delaware State University and Dragoljub Pokrajac, professor at the DSU, born in Ni?. 6.
  13. We announced dates on our forum, but the official announcement in the registration menu on toefl.org is not our job to do. TOEFL registration system is opening those dates when they become available, usually three months before. We suggest you to check their site regularly to apply for October dates.
International Academic Center will participate at this year's EXIT fest in Novi Sad, from July 12 to July 15. 16. Pozdrav, IAC Team ----------------------- Dear users, Thank you for the patience during updating process. Installation of the new version took a little bit longer than expected, but the final results are what is important. The forum is safer now and much more pleasant to browse through. Our goal is still to assist you with all the issues you may have about studying in the US. If you encounter any problems with forum itself, please let us know by e-mail office@iacbg.org and we will assist you as soon as possible. Best Regards, IAC Team

  18. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/business/local...iness-headlines Looking to enhance their qualifications, employees go back to business school Looking to enhance their qualifications, employees go back to business school By Jeff Zbar Special Correspondent June 18, 2007, 7:06 AM EDT Michelle Gold has significant business experience. As president of a not-for-profit, she helped manage a seven-figure budget, oversaw a multimillion-dollar new building project, and helped negotiate refinancing of an $8 million construction loan. Even with all that business insight, Gold wanted a boost to her business savvy and resume. So in 2004, at age 43, Gold enrolled in the University of Florida's executive MBA program. The married mother of two studied nightly and attended classes every third weekend. She emerged in December with her MBA. "I was a stay-at-home mom for 14 years and was looking for a way to build myself up to become a top-notch candidate," said Gold, who stepped down from the volunteer post as president last year and who's now looking for an executive-level job. `Enhance your career' Gold is one of many South Florida employees and entrepreneurs who are returning to school to earn their MBA, or master's in business administration. The degree requires widely focused graduate-level work in many areas of business marketing, finance and accounting, operations, law, and even organizational behavior. Business schools around the country are seeing a rise in applications to traditional and "executive" or weekend MBA programs, according to the Graduate Management Admission Council. Last year, 69 percent of 147 schools surveyed reported applications were up, vs. 38 percent the year before, said Bob Ludwig, a spokesman for the McLean, Va.-based organization. Half the schools are reporting more applications from women than the year before, 37 percent reported a rise in minority applications, and 58 percent said international student applications were up. The parchment appears to bring better tidings. Among students in MBA programs as part of the Executive MBA Council, 41 percent were promoted in 2005, compared to 34 percent in 2004, according to the organization. "The trend used to be that if you had a bachelor's degree in business, that was state of the art," said Vegar Wiik, interim director of executive programs at Florida Atlantic University's college of business in Boca Raton. "Now, to get higher management positions, you need to get an MBA to excel in occupations and go through that glass ceiling in the marketplace." The `ideal candidate' Gold was an ideal candidate for the University of Florida's MBA program, said Patrick Foran, the program's director of admissions. She had an undergraduate degree (two, actually) and at least four years of work experience, most recently as president of Temple Dor Dorim in Weston. There, she oversaw 14 staffers, 60 teachers and a six-figure budget. And she was ready to work hard -- up to 20 hours a week in studies, by some estimates. "The ideal candidate is someone moving into a career who wants to get the skill sets and abilities to understand the whole business," Foran said. "Companies are complicated organisms. This helps them think clearly about operations, what your company does and what else you can do to help the greater good of the company." Taking the graduate management admission test (or GMAT) at 42 was daunting, Gold admitted. Before starting the program, she discussed the cooperation she'd need from her husband and two children. Her studies began at 9:30 at night and often didn't end until well after midnight. Gold said she thinks her MBA will boost her prospective starting salary from around $60,000 to more than $110,000; the two-year program cost her about $45,000. FAU's costs around $25,000, Wiik said. Return on investment (ROI) on an MBA has been shrinking, according to the Executive MBA Council. In 2005, it took 18 months for organizations to experience ROI, compared with 21 months in 2004. Students who paid their own way enjoyed payback in 39 months in 2005, compared with 44 months the year before. "I believe I bought a better business brain," joked Gold, who put her knowledge to use before graduation when she helped negotiate a loan for the congregation that cut thousands off its payments, launched a study to build the congregation's member base, and restructured departments to improve her budget. She's more confident in interviews. "Without a business degree, I would be dismissed in job interviews right away," she said. Better understanding For seven years, Sundar Phyagarajan has been a senior software engineer at Motorola in Plantation. But when in meetings with business planners, his work and their needs often disconnected. In 2004, the physics and computer engineering graduate began taking business prerequisites and studying for the GMAT. In 2005, at 42, he had enrolled in Nova Southeastern University's MBA program. While his wife, Vijayshree, cared for their two children, he attended classes every other weekend and studied well into the evening. He graduates in July with an MBA with an entrepreneurial specialty, with an eye on an eventual career in management consulting. Phyagarajan lamented his late start, though he credits the wisdom of age as helping his studies. With his MBA, he thinks he's more on par in discussions with his managers. "As technologist, having a larger understanding of the business model is equally relevant to engineers," he said. Dave Kustin, 33, also is wrapping up his MBA studies at NSU. The managing director at On the Ball, a Plantation marketing firm, Kustin thinks his MBA is teaching him the language of business. "This gives me more traction in my clients' boardrooms," he said. "I meet with people every day and now can speak their language and look at their business more objectively than if I did not have a degree." Copyright ? 2007, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
  19. Congratulations Ivana and thank you! There's only one thing we don't know - the name of your college. Can you please inform us about that so other users can ask you more detailed questions? Thank you!
On June 6 the EducationUSA advising International Academic Center in Belgrade held their first of what they hope to be an annual, Pre-Departure Orientation for students who will be studying in the U.S. this fall. A panel of students who have already overcome the hurdles of studying in the U.S., Dusan Vuksanovic, Nikola Djurica, Milena Redzic and Adam Ahmed shared their experiences and answered questions from the participants. Over 25 participants attended, many of whom have received scholarships. Some of the schools Nikola Matic, Pavle Stojanovic, Dragan Kovacevic, Maja Taskovic, Natasa Lalatovic and others will be going to are Princeton in New Jersey, Oberlin in Ohio, Amherst in Massachusetts, John Hopkins in Maryland, Chapman in California, Case Western Reserve in Ohio, University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and Montana State University in Montana. 22. Sve izmenjene fajlove mozete naci u delu sajta pod nazivom "Resursi".
  23. http://www.emediawire.com/releases/2007/5/emw522959.htm Employers Target More Jobs at People with Graduate Business Degrees Recruiters Plan to Step Up MBA Hiring While Cutting Back on Slots for Undergraduates MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Employers plan to boost the number of new MBAs they hire in 2007 and are reporting less interest in people with only an undergraduate education, new research from the Graduate Management Admission Council? (GMAC?) shows. Corporate recruiters expect to hire an average of 18 percent more workers with MBAs and other graduate business degrees this year than they did in 2006, according to the 2007 GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey. This increase follows the 18 percent jump in MBA hiring recruiters projected in last year's survey. The survey also found that employers plan to increase the number of jobs for people with graduate degrees in areas other than business by about 16 percent. But recruiters told GMAC researchers they anticipate trimming the number of positions aimed at people completing undergraduate degrees this year by more than 7 percent. "Employers are saying clearly that an MBA brings value to their enterprises," said Dave Wilson, president and chief executive officer of GMAC, an international association of business schools and sponsor of the Graduate Management Admission Test? (GMAT?). "A typical MBA graduate today brings maturity, intellect, experience, determination and a willingness to invest in his or her own intellectual capital. What a perfect combination for an employer!" Recruiters also appear to be placing increased emphasis on the specialized skills people develop in graduate business school?and are willing to pay more for these abilities in new employees. Respondents to the survey said they are especially drawn to the expertise in managing corporate strategy and motivating teams of workers that MBA students build in business school. The recruiters indicated that people with graduate business degrees are likely to be more adept in these areas than those with less extensive management educations or degrees in other disciplines. In addition, the pay gap between people with graduate business degrees and their counterparts with other credentials is widening. Recruiters said they plan to offer annual base salaries to people with graduate business degrees that are 28 percent higher than what they extend to new hires with other types of graduate degrees. That figure was 23 percent in 2006. Meanwhile, recruiters are willing to pay 84 percent more to new MBAs or other high-level business degree recipients than to people with only an undergraduate education, according to the survey. In 2006, the difference was 75 percent. The 2007 GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey includes responses from 1,382 recruiters representing 1,029 companies around the world that hire MBAs or others with graduate business educations. These companies include 149 of the Fortune 500 and 109 of the Fortune Global 500. GMAC partnered with the MBA Career Services Council (MBA CSC) in developing questions for the survey and enhancing distribution of the survey to corporate recruiters. The MBA CSC is the international professional association representing individuals in the field of MBA career services and recruiting. The organization provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and information and addresses issues unique to the needs of MBA career services and recruiting professionals. It also provides professional development and networking opportunities for members, and develops and promotes its Standards for Reporting MBA Employment Statistics?. The Graduate Management Admission Council (www.gmac.com), based in McLean, Va., is a non-profit education organization of leading graduate business schools worldwide dedicated to creating access to and disseminating information about graduate management education. GMAC annually surveys thousands of corporate recruiters, MBA students and business school alumni to gauge their feelings about the job market and collect other data. The Council also owns the Graduate Management Admission Test, used by more than 3,000 graduate management programs around the world to assess applicants. The GMAT was created in 1954 and remains the first and only standardized test specifically designed for graduate business and management programs.

Srdacan pozdrav, Elizabeth Chung Akademski savetnik
