High Performance Computational Consultant

Permanent Full-Time position

An ideal candidate will have experience using shared HPC resources for scientific or engineering applications, experience writing scientific or engineering applications in Fortran90/95 or another high level language, strong numerical methods skills, experience developing parallel programs using MPI, and proficiency using UNIX/Linux based operating systems. An advanced degree in science or engineering is required and a PhD strongly preferred. The consultant will collaborate with researchers using HPC resources to provide in-depth computational assistance across a wide range of research areas. Duties include assisting NC State researchers to efficiently and effectively use Office of Information Technology HPC resources by: developing and offering training on HPC topics; assisting with porting applications to OIT HPC systems; assisting with debugging applications; and assisting with selection of algorithms or appropriate 3rd party applications for solution of research problems. Position will be expected to over time provide significant fraction of support from collaboration on grant proposals with NC State researchers using OIT HPC resources.

NC State and the triangle area offer significant opportunities for research collaboration. Climate and living expenses are moderate, public education is good. Initial starting salary is expected to be between 80 and 90 thousand dollars.
