I. Scholarships and Fellowships

International Student Scholarships Available at East Tennessee State University

In an effort to increase international student enrollment and increase diversity on campus, East Tennessee State University introduced a merit scholarship specifically for international students. Titled the ?International Students Academic Merit Scholarship,? the award covers 50% of tuition for international students.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be admitted as full-time students (undergraduate or graduate) and must have a demonstrated record of academic achievement. Applications are being accepted for the fall 2010 semester. Students who wish to receive the scholarship for the fall 2010 term must submit completed applications by June 1st. Students can apply online at www.etsu.edu/iss.

Albion College Accepting Applications until May 1, 2010. Scholarships Available for International Students

University/college bound students that who are still looking for U.S. institutions or scholarship assistance can still apply to Albion College and be eligible for scholarship. Don't Forget about Montana State?s 2010 Scholarship Awards for Non-Resident Freshmen

Montana State University will offer millions of dollars in scholarships and awards to non-resident freshmen who apply for admission for the fall of 2010. Scholarships range from $1,500 to $15,000/year, renewable for four years, based on qualifying students? ACT and/or SAT test scores

To be eligible, freshman applicants must complete the following as soon as possible:

1. Apply for admission to Montana State University - http://www.montana.edu/international/isss/apply.htm

2. Have their official ACT and/or SAT test scores sent to Montana State University directly from the testing company. The ACT MSU school code is 2420. The SAT MSU school code is 4488.

It is essential to apply for admission and have ACT and/or SAT test scores sent to Montana State University as soon as possible as these scholarships and awards may only be available for a limited time. If students qualify, these scholarships will be automatically awarded when we have received their application and ACT and/or SAT test scores.

University of Dayton?s Intensive English Program

The University of Dayton?s Intensive English Program offers a three-week summer intersession term for English learners who are interested in studying at a U.S. institution. The program, offered from July 8-30, 2010, develops students? interpersonal communication, interviewing, listening and speaking, and presentation skills while introducing them to the American university experience.

About the program:

In the morning, students will study grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. Following these fundamental courses, students will participate in a cooperative learning project which will teach them skills to help them in the American university classroom. Students also have the option to meet with University of Dayton professors to learn about classroom expectations and programs of study, or sit in on a class. Students may tour campus or attend a presentation by an admission counselor about the application process. Students are encouraged to live on campus during their time here in one of the University?s residence halls. Evening and weekend activities for all participants will include an introduction to local sites and traditions.

Intensive English Language Institute at the University of North Texas

Established in 1977, the Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) at the University of North Texas provides an outstanding program for academic English, located on the beautiful campus of UNT, which has more than 36,000 students and is only thirty minutes from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. IELI is a 7-level program ? ranging from beginner (0) to advanced (6), with eight-week terms and 23 hours of classes weekly.

Conditional admission to UNT is available for graduate and undergraduate students for most UNT programs, and no TOEFL score is required for those who pass IELI?s Level 6. Also, IELI's Graduate Preparation Course (GPC) substitutes for the GRE verbal test requirement for many graduate programs at UNT. GPC focuses on the reading, writing, speaking, and research skills necessary for successful US graduate studies.

Bergen Community College Introduces New AAS in Event Planning and Management

Bergen Community College located in Paramus NJ, just 30 minutes from New York City, introduces the Associates of Applied Science in Event Planning and Management (AAS, Business Technologies, Hotel/Restaurant/Hospitality - Event Planning and Management Option).

Students who choose this option should have strong organizational and communication skills. Business relies on successful events to encourage growth and promote enthusiasm throughout an industry in regards to their company. The Event Planner coordinates and organizes meetings, luncheons and other special events. Some Event Planners ensure that the company conducting the meeting or event is aware to the facility's services and limitations. The Event Planner also must contact a facility representative and other vendors and organize other details for the event. This is a 2 year program.
