Postdoc Position, Claremont Graduate University

Recommended Posts

Claremont Graduate University is seeking a postdoctoral fellow (research assistant professor) to work under the supervision of Professor H.N.  Mhaskar on his project funded by the Office of Naval Research. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or related disciplines. The term starts on August 1, 2024 till July 31, 2025, expected to be renewed for another year subject to funding and satisfactory work.  There is some flexibility with the timing. Subsidized housing might be available https://my.cgu.edu/housing/.

The project consists of developing a new paradigm for machine learning based on computational harmonic analysis. The appointee will be expected to find application areas and demonstrate the success of the theory to these areas, and thus expected to have strong programming background in addition to a good background in mathematical analysis. The project interacts with several areas of mathematics: computational harmonic analysis, approximation theory, orthogonal polynomials, image processing, inverse problems, partial differential equations, etc. It is not expected that the candidate should be an expert in all these areas, but should have the enthusiasm and ability to absorb new areas of knowledge quickly.

To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV (with list of publications), statement of research interests, and at least three letters of recommendation via mathjobs.org. For further information, contact Professor Mhaskar at hrushikesh.mhaskar@cgu.edu
