Germany: Postdoc Position, Numerical Fluid Mechanics

Recommended Posts

The University of Bayreuth with its familiar campus is one of the largest employers in the region. The Chair of Engineering Mechanics and Fluid Mechanics at the University of Bayreuth has a vacancy for the position of Postdoc in numerical fluid mechanics to be filled full-time (40.1 hours/week) as soon as possible. The position is to be filled as part of a three-year research project. The project systematically investigates the observability of modes in a compressible flow using imaging techniques and acoustic measurements. For this purpose, synthetic and experimental PIV and schlieren images
respectively measurements of acoustic arrays of compressible flows are analysed using the adjoint Navier-Stokes equations. Both experimental data and numerical codes for solving the compressible flows and their adjoints are available. Knowledge of compressible flows, stability analysis, adjoint equations and methods of artificial intelligence is advantageous, but not mandatory. You will work on mainframe computers or graphics cards and be part of an international team.

Your profile: PhD in computational fluid mechanics, numerical linear algebra, artificial intelligence and imaging methods or related topics. Programming skills.

What you can expect: interesting, varied work in a university environment; flexible working hours; constructive working atmosphere in a friendly and open-minded team; company health management; compatibility of family and career.

The University of Bayreuth values the diversity of its employees as an enrichment and is expressly committed to the goal of equal opportunities for men and women. Women are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants with children are very welcome. The University of Bayreuth is a member of the best-practice club "Familie in der Hochschule e.V." and has successfully participated in the HRK audit "Internationalization of the University".

Please send your detailed application documents addressed to Prof. Dr. sc. techn. habil. Jorn Sesterhenn to office.tms@uni-bayreuth.de.
