Faculty positions at Southern Methodist University

Recommended Posts

Applications are invited for two positions to begin in the fall semester of 2011. One position is for a tenure-track assistant professor and the other position is at any level with preference given to tenured associate or full professor candidates. The Department of Mathematics offers an active doctoral program in computational and applied mathematics. While preference will be given to candidates in these two areas, applicants in other related areas are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD, provide evidence of outstanding research, and have a strong commitment to teaching at all levels. Applicants can visit http://www.smu.edu/math for more information about the department.

Applicants should send a letter of application with curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and research and teaching statements to: Faculty Search Committee, Department of Mathematics, Southern Methodist University, P.O. Box 750156, Dallas, TX 75275-0156. The Search Committee can be contacted via e-mail at mathsearch@mail.smu.edu; (Tel: (214) 768-2452; Fax: (214) 768-2355). Tenure-track applicants should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the department. Tenured applicants should provide contact information for three references.

To ensure full consideration for the position, the application must be received by December 17, 2010, but the committee will continue to accept applications until the position is filled. The committee will notify applicants of its employment decisions after the position is filled.
