I. Scholarships and Fellowships

Worcester Polytechnic Institute Scholarships for International Baccalaureate Diploma Applicants

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a highly selective technological university offering degrees with 40 majors in the pure and applied sciences, engineering, computer science, management and business administration, and the liberal arts. Located in Worcester, Massachusetts, WPI has outstanding teaching facilities and laboratories and a unique academic program that emphasizes professional-level, individually advised project work.

Scholarship Opportunities

All admitted applicants are automatically considered for academic merit scholarships, which typically range from $10,000 to $25,000 per year. Scholarships are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study. Most noteworthy, valedictorians, salutatorians, and IB diploma graduates with a diploma score of 40 or greater admitted to WPI are guaranteed an academic merit scholarship worth a minimum of $19,000 per year.

Another of WPI's newest scholarship opportunities is the Global Scholars Program. WPI has sent more science and engineering students abroad than any other private university in the United States. Today, approximately 50% of our students complete at least one academic project overseas (www.wpi.edu/academics/GPP/Overview/index.html). Whether in Venice or Bangkok, Copenhagen or Cape Town?or at any of our 31 project centers around the world?students collaborate with peers, faculty advisors, and local community members on projects that make a difference in the world. This scholarship program will help provide opportunities for WPI students to fully participate in our global curriculum for years to come. Each year, up to 50 Global Scholars are selected and receive a one-time $5,000 scholarship to be used for a WPI Global Studies experience.

In addition to merit scholarships, WPI offers a limited number of need-based scholarships to international students, typically ranging from $5,000 to $25,000. These awards are renewed each year, provided the student remains in good academic standing. WPI does not guarantee to meet applicants' full financial need.

Hofstra Law School offers scholarships to international students

Hofstra Law School is now offering need- and merit-based scholarships for international students in our Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree programs.

Located in the greater New York City region, Hofstra Law School?s mission is to prepare passionate students to make an impact in their communities and beyond. Accredited by the American Bar Association and Bar Council of India, Hofstra is a proud member of the International Association of Law Schools. We offer both full-time and part-time J.D. programs as well as LL.M. programs in American Legal Studies (for foreign law graduates) and Family Law.

The J.D. program takes full-time students three years to complete and is appropriate for international students who have not completed a first law degree in their home country. The requirements include completing fundamental courses in Contracts, Torts, Civil Procedure, Property, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Professional Responsibility. Students also take a first year course on Transnational Law, a unique offering that promotes an understanding of the relationships between U.S. law and international business, legal, social and political issues.

Hofstra Law School designed the American Legal Studies LL.M. program for lawyers trained outside of the United States, and who wish to either practice law in the United States or return to their home countries. Hofstra?s nine-month, full-time LL.M. program trains students to handle the increasing internationalization of legal practice and navigate transactions involving the laws of multiple nations. This program may also qualify students to sit for the New York bar examination and become licensed attorneys.

International students in our J.D. and LL.M. programs are fully integrated members of the Law School community. Candidates may select from over 200 courses and join any of our 40 student organizations. These programs have attracted students from over 40 foreign countries.
