Comp Middleware Engineer/Scientist, South Carolina

A "Research Associate" Scientific Middleware Engineer is sought to directly engage scientific and engineering faculty researchers to provide parallel processing system development, software and hardware support for High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, develop operational and strategic plans and procedures, oversee infrastructure upgrades and acquisitions, and supervise system administration. A candidate must have advanced knowledge of research computing, cyberinfrastructure systems and issues, along with detailed knowledge of computational algorithm development and scientific programming. The middleware engineer will participate in scientific computing projects as a senior participant or a co-Prinicipal Investigator as needed and may be required to lecture or teach in areas of expertise. This is a limited term, renewable appointment. Master's degree is required and a terminal degree is preferred.
