The Department of Applied Mathematics at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) seeks to fill a visiting position available for the 2012-2013 academic year. Candidates considered may be sabbatical visitors with half-time teaching loads or early career academics with full-time loads. Depending on performance and budgetary considerations, it may be possible to extend the position for one additional year.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for fruitful research collaboration with one or more research groups in our department and show evidence of good teaching. The Department of Applied Mathematics conducts externally-funded research in applied analysis, computational mathematics, discrete applied mathematics, and stochastics. With a very diverse student body of over 7,000, IIT is a private, PhD-granting university with programs in engineering, science, psychology, architecture, business, design and law. IIT is located in a city-park like campus designed by the influential 20th-century architect Mies van der Rohe in the heart of the vibrant city of Chicago.
