administrator Posted March 1, 2014 Report Share Posted March 1, 2014 Call for Teaching Portfolios for Visiting Lecturer Positions in the Near Future Rolling deadline The Department of Gender Studies at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary invites teaching portfolios from gender studies scholars in any area of social science and humanities who wish to be considered for several teaching openings we anticipate in the coming years in our MA and PhD programs. These positions are likely to be on a one-course basis but might also cover multiple courses if portfolios and teaching needs coincide well. Courses in Gender Studies at CEU cover a broad array of topics from various disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives. Teaching generally takes place in the Fall (mid September to early December) and Winter (early January to the end of March) in 12 week terms. Courses are taught in two forms: one 100 minute class per week (2 credits/4 ECTS) or twice per week (4 credits/8 ECTS). Remuneration will be commensurate with experience, within budgetary limits and subject to Hungarian taxation. Classes are taught seminar style in groups generally ranging from 12 to 20 students. Critical reading, writing, and original research are emphasized. http://gender.ceu.hu/news/2014-02-25/call-for-teaching-portfolios-for-visiting-lecturer-positions-in-the-near-future One Year Replacement Teaching Position in Gender and Literature/Cultural Studies Visiting Faculty Department of Gender Studies Starting date: September 01, 2014 Application deadline: April 25, 2014 The Department of Gender Studies at the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary invites applications in the field of gender and literature/cultural studies for a one year visiting position to replace a faculty member who is going on leave. The successful candidate will be able to teach a required MA theory course (Foundations in Gender Studies II, syllabus template will be provided), and two to three elective courses covering gender and literature or other aspects of popular culture. The teaching load of 12 credits (24 ECTS) will be distributed over the academic year as either 4-credit (8 ECTS, two 100-minute class meetings per week) or 2-credit (4 ECTS, one 100-minute class meeting per week) courses. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise several MA students in thesis research and writing. For this post we envision a scholar at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are looking for quality scholarship as evidenced through publications, demonstrated teaching experience in gender studies or relevant fields, and an ability to teach across disciplinary boundaries. The term of appointment is from 1 September 2014 to 30 June, 2015; teaching terms are 12 weeks each; most teaching is concentrated in the Fall and Winter terms while Spring term is mostly dedicated to MA thesis writing.
