Postdoc Position in Computational Geophysics at Stanford University

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the SIGMA (Simulations of Geophysical Multi-phAse flows) group at the Department of Geophysics, Stanford University. See https://sigma.stanford.edu for more information about the SIGMA group.

Candidates should have an interest in Earth Science and Computational Fluid Dynamics.  Proficiency in C/C++, Matlab or a suitable substitute is required. Previous experience in developing numerical models for coupled systems of partial differential equations is highly desirable. Potential applications range from ice-stream modeling in West Antarctica to developing computational models of volcanic eruptions and lava flows.

Salary for the position will be determined by the University commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a research allowance for travel and miscellaneous expenses. Starting date is negotiable, but ideally the candidate would be available to start around September 1st, 2014. The appointment will be for one year, renewable for a second and third year by mutual agreement.
