THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO (OH) SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

 

The University of Toledo offers two admission scholarships to qualified international students. You will automatically be considered for all of these awards by submitting a completed admission application. For international students with an F-1 visa and a passing TOEFL score who have the equivalent of a 3.0 or higher cumulative average. 

 

International Student Scholarship

Offered to new undergraduate international students who are entering the university as an adult, transfer or directly from high school who have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The scholarship covers the out of state surcharge for the 2013-14 academic year. 

 

Sister Cities Award

The Sister Cities Award is guaranteed to new undergraduate and graduate students enrolled for a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester whose permanent address is within one of the Toledo Sister Cities/Regions at the same time as application.

DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY (PA) MERIT BASED LIBERMANN SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

 

Duquesne University offers merit based Libermann Scholarships for international students that apply before April 1. 

 

The scholarships range from $5,000 - $16,000 per year (about 50 - 60 % of tuition) and are renewable for 4 years. 

 

They are given based on high school grades, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and your personal statement. You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 to qualify. SAT scores are NOT needed for this scholarship. 

 

No additional application is needed, we use your original application materials to evaluate your file for a scholarship at the time of admittance.

UNIVERSITY OF THE PEOPLE PARTNERS WITH WESTERN UNION TO OFFER SCHOLARSHIP

 

University of the People (UoPeople) strives to provide equal educational access to all. UoPeople has created designated scholarship funds to help achieve this mission, and open the gates of higher education to all individuals regardless of financial constraint.

 

The Western Union scholarships are available for admitted students from the following countries: Brazil, China, Colombia, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Senegal, and Turkey.

 

Students who have been admitted to the University from the above countries are welcome to apply for a Western Union scholarship.

CARROLL UNIVERSITY (WI) VICTOR VEGA SCHOLARSHIP

 

Victor Vega Scholarship:

Award Amount: $6,000/year for a maximum of four years (in addition to the standard financial aid package which is usually between $12,000 and $16,000!)

Number of Awards: 1

Entry Requirements: All students from South America who submit a complete Fall 2014 international undergraduate application by July 23rd, 2014 will be considered for the award. No additional application required.

 

Application instructions:

Complete a Carroll University international undergraduate application. No application fee! Send us your official transcripts from secondary school and any university work (transcripts must include official English translation),and your English Proficiency Scores.

This is one award and most international students receive between $12,000 and $16,000. This means that, if selected as the Victor Vega Scholarship recipient, your annual scholarship package would likely be anywhere from $18,000-$22,000 each year! That reduces the cost of attendance at Carroll University by nearly half (or more)!

GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY (DC) COMMUNICATION, CULTURE AND TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM ANNOUNCES FIRST ONLINE COURSE

 

The Communication, Culture and Technology (CCT) M.A. program is excited to announce the launching of its first online course, (CCTP 798) - Key Concepts in Technology and How to Use Them, this Fall 2014. CCT Founder and Associate Professor, Martin Irvine, developed this course as part of his receiving one of Georgetown’s ITEL grants, which represents the university’s new initiative for greater tech-enhanced learning.

 

This course will provide students and working professionals with important conceptual and analytical tools for understanding the key concepts behind our current media and computational technologies. The course will be taught entirely online using Georgetown’s Blackboard course platform with video and multimedia presentations, and real-time video conferencing.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY LAUNCHES ENHANCED WEBSITE FOR SCHOOLS AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

 

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) launched an enhanced Study in the States website with four new features. The features enable the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), housed within U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), to convey pertinent information to stakeholders about the international student process in a clear and interactive manner.

 

The new features include:

-An interactive glossary to find definitions to the most-used terms in the international student process.

-An "Ask a Question" section to get the answers to commonly asked questions about studying in the United States or school certification.

-An enhanced School Search page to locate schools certified by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) to enroll international students across the United States in a comprehensive list or on an interactive map, by name, state, educational program or visa type.

-A mobile-ready version of Study in the States so users can easily view the site on their smart phones or tablets.
