The University has had a reputation for innovation since its founding in 1876. Our research tackles some of the world’s most pressing issues in areas as diverse as infection and immunity, human rights, climate change, and cryptography and information security. Following significant investment in the University’s post-graduate research programmes, the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law is pleased to announce 20 fully-funded PhD scholarships for applicants showing exceptional research potential. University of Bristol PGR Scholarships are available for applicants from any country and for any PhD programme offered within the Faculty. We actively encourage applications from all part of the world and from under-represented and non-traditional groups, both from within and outside of the UK. All applications, whether requiring home or overseas fees, will receive equal consideration. This year, aligned with University and Faculty strategic priorities, we particularly encourage applications for research projects situated in – and at the intersections between – the following areas, Sociodigital / data science / technology Social justice Environment / sustainability / climate change Health and Social Care Policy, including post-pandemic welfare policy and policy evaluation Migration and Mobilities We welcome proposals located firmly in traditional disciplines as well as proposals that are interdisciplinary, whether across the social sciences and law or more broadly. If you would like to be considered for this scholarship, please indicate this on your PhD programme application. Schools will then make nominations to the Faculty.
