The Swiss National Center of Competence in Research (NCCR) for migration and mobility studies nccr – on the move brings together research projects from the social sciences, economics and law. Managed from the University of Neuchâtel, the network comprises eight Higher Education Institutions in Switzerland. At the University of Geneva we have an open position for a Doctoral Student (70%)

The preferred start date is 1 August 2022 (or as agreed upon). The funding of the contract is limited to 31 May 2026.

The successful applicant is expected to contribute to a research project called “Societal Crises and Personal Sense-Making: Transitions, Mobility, and Imagination Across the Lifecourse” and complete a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of Prof. Nathalie Muller Mirza (https://www.unige.ch/fapse/i-act/).

Requirements: You have completed a Master degree in education, sociocultural psychology or social psychology (or one of the social sciences). You have to-date not, or only recently (not more than twelve months), enrolled as a doctoral candidate at a Swiss University. Excellent knowledge of qualitative methods as well as excellent written and oral command of French and English are required.

You will participate in an interdisciplinary doctoral program coordinated by the nccr – on the move. We expect an interest in collaborations with PostDocs, doctoral students and other nccr – on the move collaborators in the framework of NCCR activities. Regular event attendance at the University of Neuchâtel, or elsewhere in Switzerland as well as online is required.
