We would like to invite candidates with a strong background in applied+computational mathematics and/or computational physics for a funded 4-year PhD (Dphil) position at Oxford University, Mathematical Institute, to start in fall 2023.

The PhD topic is titled "Reliable and efficient sketching algorithms for randomised Principal Component Analysis", and will work broadly in randomised numerical linear algebra, developing algorithms, theory, implementation and applications.  The student will be supervised by Yuji Nakatsukasa (Oxford University) and Hussam Al Daas (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, STFC). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be hosted by both the Numerical Analysis Group at the Mathematical Institute (Oxford University) and the Computational Mathematics Group (Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, STFC).

Applications are made through the Oxford online system, with deadline March 1. See the website
https://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/graduate/courses/dphil-mathematics

We encourage interested candidates to send us an expression of interest as soon as possible. Please include a short CV when you do so.  For further details or to express interest, please send your queries to Yuji Nakatsukasa, nakatsukasa@maths.ox.ac.uk, and/or Hussam Al Daas, hussam.al-daas@stfc.ac.uk .
