administrator
Numerical modeling of biomedical devices used in the treatment of cardiovascular pathologies The Institute of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, University of Sao Paulo, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the area of Computational Fluid Dynamics. The research aims to evaluate fluid flow in extracorporeal ventricular assist devices and valves using numerical simulations. The problem settings require the treatment of geometric nonlinearities and fluid-structure interaction. In this research, it will be necessary to create a model to represent the nonlinear contact between highly flexible surfaces, which tend to suffer instabilities, being necessary to establish a runtime mesh update algorithm (remeshing). with the use of moving meshes (based on the ALE technique). The work will be conducted in partnership with the Bioengineering Laboratory of the Instituto do Coracao (Incor), University of Sao Paulo, and the Department of Structures, Unicamp. This project is suitable for a candidate with the following profile: Bachelor's degree in the fields of engineering; PhD in the area of Computational Mechanics involving fluid-structure interaction; Strong motivation and willingness to work with multidisciplinary team; Proven experience in studies, simulation and numerical modeling; It is desirable the candidate has experience with commercial finite element software (preferably the ANSYS package).
