Full details are provided below. IMATI is an institute of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) and has three sections (Pavia, Genova and Milano). The section in Pavia is located in the campus of the University of Pavia and has strong interactions with the nearby Departments of Mathematics and Civil Engineering of the University of Pavia. TOPIC 1: NUMERICAL METHODS FOR PDES AND UQ FOR HYDRAULIC AND GEOPHYSICAL MODELS Type of position: Research grant ("Assegno di ricerca") Funding: This position is funded by PRIN 2022 PNRR project "Uncertainty Quantification of coupled models for water flow and contaminant transport" (P2022LXLYY), financed by the European Union - NextGenerationEU Mentors: Lorenzo Tamellini, Andrea Bressan Description: Numerical methods for PDEs and UQ for hydraulic and geophysical models, in particular: rainfall-runoff models coupled with groundwater flows and contaminant transport land subsidence Application deadline: May 7, 2024, at 23:59pm CEST Date of interview: selected candidates will be interviewed on May 23, 2024, at 10:30am CEST (online interview) Expected starting date: no later than mid-September 2024 Duration: 14 months Teaching load: none Salary: ~19.000 EUR gross annual salary (~1400 EUR net per month) Call number: IMATI-002-2024-PV Prerequisites: Master degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Geology, Statistics, Environmental Sciences or similar (see the link to the official call for full details).
